Fixed plate biofilm carrier is developed by Tongji University for biological wastewater treatment plant. It is a new generation microbial immobilized carrier based on years of engineering practise. This filling material has been widely applied in the treatment of refractory organic wastewater. It has special structure shaped by a series of complex processes with bilayer films and interstice layer, so it possesses large specific surface area and high porosity properties. After ionized and hydrophilic modification during the shaping processes, the material surface is positively charged, so it is easier for negatively charged microorganisms to attach. Fixed plate biofilm carrier has excellent mechanical strength which ensures no damage under the hydraulic shear or during collision process between two packing material, Besides, this high polymer material can resist acid or alkali with more than 8-10 years lifespan.

1. Wide range of application
Fixed plate biofilm carrier as natural water treatment can be applied in anaerobic, aerobic or aerated separation reactors. In aerobic reactors, the filling material can improve the hydraulic condition, increase microorganism concentration and achieve simultaneous nitrification-denitrification so as to enhance biochemical effect with less excess sludge production.
In anaerobic or aerated separation units, the tilt filling material can largely increase separation area and settling efficiency, decrease the hydraulic loading.
Fixed plate biofilm carrier can be used in the upgrading reconstruction or expansion programs of new plants or old wastewater treating plants. It helps improve processing efficiency by increasing the biomass concentration. To the existed MBR, filling material can reduce the membranes loading rate by attaching partial microorganism on itself so the membrane cleaning frequency can be reduced and the life of membrane is extended.
When grows to a certain thickness, the biofilm in filling material will peel off to the bottom of the tank. These biofilm forms activated sludge. As a result, the treating ability of the reactor is improved markedly owing to the combination of biofilm and activated sludge processes. This technology is especially applicable to the wastewater treatment of petrochemical industry (including coal chemical industry) and pharmaceuticals industry.

Low construction cost as it saves 30% tank volume under same treating capacity and efficiency. Low operation cost because of no maintenance required. Besides, it is easy to exchange the filling material with no need to turn off the influent. The wastewater treatment system has little effect on the whole plant's operation.
